As a facilitator for the Leadershape Institute, we use the metaphor of a pebble in a pond creating ripples to demonstrate how one tiny act can create big change. I’m feeling this concept SO DEEPLY these days. I’m in the midst of a lot right now. All good things, however, as I move into this new season of change, I’m becoming acutely aware of my own personal power. Frankly, sometimes it’s downright scary. We have the capacity for so much greatness, it can feel overwhelming at times. When I put even the tiniest amount of intention, work, and courage into something — stuff just starts flowing. And then that flow unlocks momentum and before you know it, boom - ripples. My personal struggle is not let myself drown. I can go deep on projects; easily forgetting to eat, move, sleep, etc. I feel so much potential in 2018 that it’s almost bursting inside me. The key is remembering that part of the pursuit of that which we feel so passionately about is taking care of ourselves in the process. It’s not just about making ripples, it’s also being able to navigate the waves so we can stay afloat.
